Rogue Gemming Guidance You Tube Video

Okay I tried doing another video, this one is probably much more boring than the last one. Basically it's just a quick guide on how to gem for your rogue, specifically combat and mutilate rogues. It also covers socket bonuses and how to work out EP values to determine the best gems and sockets for your rogue in patch 4.0.1. The information still works for 4.0.3 as well afaik.

You have been fairly warned now it's pretty dull, but I hope it's helpful to anyone who's confused about gemming and how to work out whether or not a socket bonus is worth it.

Also my mic is still breathy, sorry about that :(

But hey look, pretty squiggles!

  10. Aww you didn't like my shanking comment. ;P

    Patch Spoiler ALERT
Anyhow, I just read about patch 4.0.3. For combat rogues REJOICE. In accordance to the patch information from MMO Champions, (Blue Post)
Combat Rogues are receiving a boost. Guile of Bandits is up to 30% with three talents up from 15%. As well, instant poison is up 30% for Combat? (Combat only? o0;) That's all I can remember off the top off my head, unfortunately I can't link the post because I’m at work. Just wait for the patch notes for it to be official but as long as these changes happen it'll be nice.

Be extremely glad you’re not a warlock or warrior. Warlocks got hit with the biggest nerf I’ve ever seen in wow before. -17% damage on every spell except Bane of Havoc. Warriors got turned into to patch 3.5 again basically. So much damage reduction for those two classes. Deathknight Blood Tanks took alot of healing reductions with rune tap and Death Strike. But we only care about Rogues here right?

  11. Reading the buffs straight from the WoW launcher's Patch Notes:

    - Deadly Poison base damage and attack power coefficient have been increased by 30%.

    Combat:

    - Aggression increases damage of SS, Backstabd, and Evis. by 7/14/20% now.

    - Bandit's Guile is now 10/20/30%.

BG now applies more consistently to all of the abilities it's supposed to modify."

It appears they understand the lack of balance; they've given clear damage bonuses to Combat while providing nothing for Mutilate rogues.

Also, with Haste providing energy regen. now, isn't it a much more significant stat.? Or is that tooltip a lie too?

  14. reapestlife: shanking comment? whut whut whut?

from what i saw up until now warriors and warlocks got the biggest boost to thier dps in patch 4,0.1 anyway prolly hence the nerfs as they try to level eveyrone out. we'll just wait and see if they hit them on the head too hard or not.

oh and the patch 4.0.3a notes are now up on the blog too so you can have a see whats changed there.

  15. ***EDIT***
My previous post mentioned instant poison, it is deadly. Garona has already posted the changes.

  16. mr indie day:

well its not entirely true that they didnt touch mutilate. i think mutilate will get a very big benefit from that tasty 30% increased Deadly Poison for one as well as the big buff to venemous wounds. But yes it does look like we will start to see combat running much more effectively now with these changes. as mentioend above ive put a post up about the patch now :)

in terms of haste: it's our number two stat (only below agility) for a reason :D but expect to run into energy capping issues! this is more resolved at level 85 but at level 80 rogues are reporting haste issues.

  19. Sorry for the noob question but for the meta gem you need more blue gems the red gems... so what do you do?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Blue posters have announced they will be changing the meta gem requirements back to their original 1 red 1 yellow 1 blue for the RED. So, since you would be wastiong too much DPS changing your gems to be more blue heavy, it's prolly best to just leave it and wait for it to be fixed.
