Patch 4.0.3a Rogue Changes

The latest patch 4.0.3a has been launched in USA and I'm sure the EU is not far behind so with that in mind here is a rundown of all the rogue changes in this latest patch. This patch does not immediately interfere with Patch 4.0.1 information as of yet.

Wound Poison
The reduced healing affect on [Wound Poison] has been decreased from 25% down to 10%. This only affects the enemy heals and does not affect current rogue poison DPS so combat rogues will still use Wound Poison.

Deadly Poison
[Deadly Poison] has received a massive buff, the base damage and attack power coefficient has been increased by 30%, that means all rogues will be doing much better on the DPS charts overall.

Recuperate
The new rogue healing ability [Recuperate] has had it's healing reduced to 2% down from 3%. This won't affect our DPS and that includes Sub rogues as their energy regen effect from recuperate ticks is separate from the actual healing gained. This is more like a questing nerf for rogues at the moment, I suppose.

Venomous Wounds - Mutilate Only
Assassination rogues will love this new buff to [Venomous Wounds] which increases the base damage and attack power coefficient of this talent by 30%

Aggression - Combat Only
Yes combat rogues weren't left behind either. The combat rogue talent [Aggression] has been buffed from 5/10/15% increased SS and Evis damage to a mouth watering 7/14/20% damage.

Bandit's Guile - Combat Only
Again combat rogues get another nice DPS boost to bring it up to standards with [Bandit's Guile] which now brings it up to 10/20/30% increased damage from Evolving Insight which is up from 5/10/15%. Bandit's
guile has also been fixed to operate properly and provide the buffs consistently to all abilities it is meant to affect.

Executioner - Subtlety Only
What appears to be the only Subtlety change in this patch is to thier Mastery Specialisation [Executioner] which now no longer affects Recuperate. This will not affect DPS but will prevent Sub rogues from buffing their healing capabilities by stacking Mastery.

Potent Poisons - Mutilate Only
The Mutilate Mastery specialisation has now been updated to be 3.5% extra poison damage per 1 Mastery skill.

Main Gauche - Combat Only
The Combat Mastery specialisation now starts at 16% instead fo 10% and each 1 Mastery Skill awards an additional 2% chance.

Vanish
If you have a combat pet or temporary guardian of some description by your side you can now Vanish without them continuing to attack. I'm sure many of you are clapping your hands in joy over this one!

Summary
As you can see basically speaking rogue damage got buffed, in particular combat rogues, and rogue healing got nerfed. The patch notes also leave us with one final reminder:
Some tooltips may not reflect the most recent changes to certain abilities.

So if you see a tooltip that doesn't tell you the new values don't panic, it's just being awkward as tooltips often like to be.

  3. @ ReavestLife ... what goes around comes around ... I'm glad I stayed combat too.

Will the buff to Aggression put Combat back in a simple Evis rotation?

Does Bandit's Guile work on Rupture?

  4. Reapest life: i will say the same for you guys... im busy posting replies and you guys just keep posting more lolol im too old for this i cant keep up XD

Verde: i wouldnt think so sorry! deadly poison is being used by us all now anyway so its just a straight upgrade and wound poison only got healing nerfed not DPS nerfed so the dps values should say the same i think.

Calicia: aye patience is a virtue ^_^
in terms of evis veruss rupture im not sure we'll have to wiat and see, it would be nice if it did though because that will make fiddly fights a combat speciality again ;)
and yes BG works on rupture :)

  7. Thanks for the quick update. Any word or advice on whether regemming for the Relentless Earthsiege Diamond is worth it? Or should we be swapping out for the haste or crit/speed meta gem?

  8. I would be most interested in updated stat weights for 4.03a as well. (For all 3 types of rogues of course).

Also, please note there has been a blue post concerning the Meta Gems. See the following link: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/136970/dps-meta-gem-changechange-it-back

  9. stabbydog: haha hmm maybe next time :P

rich: oh dear god no you'd all commit suicide!

anon1: lets all bloody hope so ;) rogues FTW!

anon2: to be fair the only decent meta gems for pve if you dont count the relentless earth seige diamond have also had thier gem requirements messed up to be more blue than red. Our main love with the meta gem is basically the 3% increased critical strike damage which none of the other have. So for now I would suggest considering as anon3 has posted us they are changing it back later on, i would sit tight for now and not worry about it. there's nothing we can do really. if you really feel the need to have something in there we are looking at:

[Swift Skyflare Diamond] which gives us 21 crit (low ep) and run speed increase (damage uptime)

[Invigorating Earthsiege Diamond] which gives us haste (high EP) and healing.

we can only guess right now but i'd say they pretty much even out so unless you have haste problems go with the haste meta, if not go with crit and run speed.

  10. oh also just read *shoudl have read first stupid me* that using the criut/run gem allows you to not use the run speed on boots which gives yo a further 16 agi (the agi enchant on boots) so if you look at it that way, and considering our abundance of haste... it may be worth using the crit meta gem instead.

  11. anon3: as soon as I know them, i will post them. im not sure if anything will change just yet though, i think the ep values will only change when we hit cataclysm.

  14. Hey Garona,

Great to see so many updates, the site is working well and becoming the number 1 source of easily available Rogue info (esp. combat spec).

Im still combat, tried sub spec but failed miserably to solo ZG (which is where I have been non stop for past 3-4 weeks).

Switched back to combat and ZG is a breeze to solo again :)

No ZG mount drops after ~30 runs recently :( But i got a Razzashi raptor and used it....maybe i should have hung on to it and put it on AH, its gonna be worth tons of gold soon...!

Also got Hero of the Zandalar achievement, the day before 4.0.3a :)

Will post more comments soon, cant watch the videos as im posting from work lol.

Just wanted to add a comment congratulating you on your fab site, thanks again

    Dag
